About Me
About me
Hey everyone!
I am a mixed media artist and photographer excited to embark on more creative adventures.
I love opportunities to work with others to create content for a variety of purposes.
Let's work together on a new project!
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
let's make the camera the eye
and capture each and every
beautiful moment
Hi everyone! My name is Andrea, or as most people know me, Drea.
I developed my love for art at a very young age. What compels me most about art are the ways it can tell a million stories, and connect with a variety of people depending on the viewer. Art is something that grounds us, and allows each of us to feel a bit more seen, a bit more heard, and a bit more understood. We draw from various art forms different emotional connections based on our individual backgrounds and life experiences. Art has the ability to soothe us, to provoke a visceral response, and to propel us in a direction of thinking we wouldn’t have otherwise considered.
During my undergraduate years, I studied interdisciplinary visual arts as well as art history at the University of Washington. The combination of learning art history and hands-on creating visual art allowed me to gain a more well-rounded understanding of everything that goes into making art. Art is a reflection of and a response to the environment around it, and highly influenced by socioeconomic, political, and cultural events in relation to its time. We can engage in art in a multitude of ways. For me, photography happens to be the medium of choice to explore these storytelling techniques.
Cameras were built to capture the world in a similar way to how the human eye functions, processing light and translating it into imagery that closely reflects how we see the world around us. It is a glimpse into a person’s mind of how they view their surroundings. It allows us to see things in ways we may never have considered.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I showcase glimpses of how I see the world. In other words, this is the world through Drea’s eyes.
This is life by Drea.
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”
“What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough.”
“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”
“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.”
